Statement
One evening in December 2017, I had a brilliant Christmas decor idea: I would paint a winter wonderland scene on my glass sliding doors for my 3 year old twin daughters. Now mind you, I had never attempted to paint any image in my life, but I figured what the heck I can always wash off the acrylic paint...hopefully! So I put on my creative britches, gathered some supplies and prayed I wouldn't destroy my doors. To my surprise I really enjoyed the process. The way you can twist your brush to make endless shapes and impressions fascinated me. After 4 hours of non-stop joy and relaxation I took a step back and was stunned at what I had created, it actually looked like a winter landscape! From that moment on, I was drawn to the visual art world.
I am a self taught artist and through many trials and errors I have discovered my own unique style that I call intuitive art. Nature has been my biggest inspiration and while I do an array of art in many creative avenues, my main focus and passion lies within acrylic and oil landscape paintings. When I begin a new piece, I have a general idea of what colors to use and a basic shape in my mind's eye. I then start to slap paint on a surface and just see what happens. As you move the paint around, mixing colors and moving your brush to the flow of your own rhythm, you begin to see the shapes come to life.
Painting has become a form of my own meditation, a chance for reflection and self healing. When I am painting, I am able to let my mind wander, and quiet, giving me a feeling of peace. Carrying this mindset into the year 2020, I have decided to take a leap of faith and create Guided by Nature Art to share my journey. My goal is to focus on personal growth, have the courage to share my art with the world and hopefully inspire others to pick up a brush and just enjoy the moment!
